About Breathwork

Breathwork is a self-healing practice in which we use the power of our breath to create a shift on an emotional, physical and mental level.  
 
Although it seems trendy now, Breathwork is actually nothing new. Shamans and Yogis have recognized the importance of the breath and been practicing Breathwork practices for millennia.  
 
The basic idea of Breathwork is to release toxins and stress when you breathe out and to nourish your body and mind as you breathe in. 
 
Breathwork is an umbrella term to describe any kind of controlled breathing exercise or breathing technique. It has the ability to heal in so many ways and always delivers a powerful experience.  

What is Conscious Connected Breathing?

During our sessions, we’ll dive into Conscious Connected circular breathing without any pause or gap between the inhalation and the exhalation. This will double the oxygen and lower the carbon dioxide level which leads to a detoxification process that occurs in your molecules, cells and tissues where your memories and experiences are stored. This will help your body to release negative experiences trapped in your body. This breathing technique can tap into your subconscious mind and awaken your sympathetic fight or flight response. When you move air in this circular connected pattern, it turns off the conscious over thinking part of your brain to allow for this deep healing to occur. 

What you may experience physically? 

During your Breathwork session you may experience different body sensations that could feel unfamiliar and strange to you. Please know that this is very usual and you are safe. These sensation will come less the more you practice Breathwork. Please also know that during your session, you can ask for support at any time. Some of the physical sensations you may experience are:

  • Tingling or tightness in different areas of your body
  • Temperature fluctuations
  • Light headed

What you may experience emotionally? 

The practice of Breathwork has the capacity to evoke a wide range of intense emotions, including anger, grief, anxiety, love, and joy. By bypassing the ego, you delve into the subconscious mind, gaining access to suppressed and repressed emotions that have been stored over time. Engaging in an open, connected breath allows you to experience these emotions and potentially liberate yourself from their grip. The liberation of these emotions might be expressed in tears, laughters or your unique way of expressing it.

Atmosphere and experience

Breathwork is usually set in an intimate setting with dimmed lights or you might want to cover your eyes. I will play loud shamanic/medicine/tribal music that connects you to the experience in a deeper way.

This creates a powerful, yet nurturing environment that allows you to feel safe, empowered and supported.  
As every session will be tailored to your needs we will first have a little chat about what you would like to work on/release/gain more.  
We will go over what Conscious Connected Breathing is, how the technique works and what it is for.

We then go into the session, starting with a little meditation, Yoga and breathing exercises followed by active breathing and ending with a relaxation and some time for you to integrate.  
I will guide you through the entire session, there will be music, physical adjustments if needed and I will hold the space so you can feel safe and relaxed.  

At the end we will have some time for an exchange, to share your experience and to talk about everything what might comes up.  

For online sessions, you choose how you would like to set up your own breathwork space. Using your laptop or phone, you will tap into the powerful music and dialogue as you breathe in the comfort of your own home. This is a private experience in whatever space you have chosen for yourself. I will guide you through the entire session that you just have to follow my voice, the music and most important YOUR BREATH.
